Maria João Borges Carioca Rodrigues
Maria João Borges Carioca Rodrigues is the CEO of Euronext Lisbon, CEO of Interbolsa and member of the managing board of Euronext N.V. effective April 1, 2016. She joined Euronext from Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), where she was executive board member and head of marketing and IT/operations. She has held a number of executive roles in the European financial sector.
Rodrigues joined Caixa Geral de Depósitos in 2013 as an executive board member and and was then in charge of the banks IT/systems, operations, marketing, organization, and mosts recently corporate NPE.
Before joining CGD, she was an executive board member for SIBS Pagamentos, the SIBS Group unit in charge of managing Portugal’s Multibanco card payment scheme, and headed the group's corporate office from 2004 to 2008. She previously headed the strategy unit at Unicre.
She began her professional career in 1993 as a consultant for McKinsey & Company, in the financial services and public administration sectors. She worked in several of the firm’s locations, particularly in Lisbon, Madrid and Amsterdam. She worked with the McKinsey Global Institute for the 2003 study on Portugal’s productivity conducted for the Economy Ministry. She has contributed to several projects in the economic and social arenas, including the book “Conquistar oFuturoda Europa” and the initiatives “Novo Portugal” and INSEAD’s “Portugal Leaping Forward”. She has also lectured at the Executive Programme (PAME) at Universidade Católica de Lisboa.
Rodrigues holds a degree in Economics from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and an MBA from INSEAD with honors. She also completed the LCOR Programme at Harvard Business School.
