Julie Winkler is chief commercial officer at the CME Group, overseeing sales, product marketing, research and data analysis as well as the company's innovation lab. She was appointed to that position on December 9, 2016, reporting to CME Group Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Terry Duffy.
Previously, she was senior managing director, research and product development at CME Group, where she led a team that monitored the derivatives markets and identified risks and opportunities. She served as managing director before being promoted to senior managing director in 2014.
Winkler was vice president for product development at the Chicago Board of Trade prior to its acquisition by the CME Group in 2007. She joined the CBOT in 1996 as a staff investigator in the Office of Investigations and Audits, and shifted to business development in 1998. She was promoted to vice president at the CBOT in 2004, after having served in other positions the previous eight years, serving as managing director of business development and business operations manager.
As vice president for product development at the CBOT, Winkler had management responsibility for financial product research and development, market data services, market training and education, corporate strategy, and business development administration.
Winkler holds a bachelor of science in finance from Valparaiso University, where she was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society. In 2005, Winkler was honored with the Outstanding Young Alumna/us Award by the Valparaiso Alumni Association.
