Hirander Misra is CEO and co-founder of Global Markets Exchange Group (GMEX), a London-based company that offers consultancy, technology and operations expertise to exchanges and other markets. He has been in the role since June 2012. 
He is founder and deputy chairman of FinComEco, which stands for the Financial and Commodities Ecosystem. The firm is focused on improving food security, economic diversity through technology for each country and economic growth opportunities for small farmers to larger commercial firms. He has served the firm since April 2017.
He also serves as director and co-founder of Global Reporting Company, or GRC, which is aimed at addressing regulatory reporting requirements. He has several non-executive roles as well, including director of Avenir, which offers post-trade processing for exchanges, clearing houses and central securities depositories and share registrars. He has held that role since January 2015. From February 2015, he has served as non-executive director of ALTX Africa Group, a Mauritius-based company that plans to build exchanges in Africa. He is non-executive director of the Central Asian Stock Exchange, or CASE and the Close Joint Stock Company Central Depository, the registered exchange and depository in the Republic of Tajikistan. He has been in that role since September 2015. He is also non-executive chairman & co-Founder of Forum Trading Solutions Ltd., a matching and surveillance service for trading venues and financial trading firms.
He is listed as director of Misra Ventures, an advisory service to exchanges, markets and electronic trading firms.
Misra previously served as CEO and a founder director at ALGO Technologies from its launch on March 15, 2010 to September of 2011.
In September of 2012 Misra pulled out of negotiations to revive the dormant Delhi Stock Exchange. He had been in negotiations for months with the DSE to turn it into an electronic stock exchange to compete with the National Stock Exchange of India and the Bombay Stock Exchange, but he could not agree to terms after India introduced a rule banning exchange heads from owning shares in the exchanges they run.
He started his career at Reuters Group Plc. in 2005 and was senior vice president, head of product development and a board director at Instinent Chi-X Ltd. He had a range of roles in the electronic trading space in eight years with Instinet, most notably senior vice president, head of product development and head of the European Exchange Linkages Group.
Misra was educated at the London School of Economics and City University, London.
