Chicago Cares is a volunteer organization for the city of Chicago. It provides opportunities for individuals and businesses to improve the Chicago community through participation in group volunteer programs designed to address Chicago's most pressing needs.

Chicago Cares creates and manages more than 170 group volunteer projects each month serving children, adults, seniors, the environment, the hungry and homeless and more.

It is an affiliate of Hands On Network, a growing alliance of volunteer management and mobilization organizations across the world.

The Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon is the largest day of community service in Chicago, and the organization's largest fundraiser. The 2008 Serve-a-thon takes place June 14. Serve-a-thon volunteers help to paint school classrooms and playgrounds, organize school libraries, plant flowers and create landscapes, and generally help to give Chicago's students an environment conducive to learning.[1]
